OTP, short-hand for On-Time Performance, is a widely accepted method of understanding punctuality for different modes of public transport, not just aviation. On-Time Performance 의 줄임말인 OTP는 항공업 뿐만 아니라 다양한 대중교통에 대해 정시운항의 이해를 위해 폭넓게 인정된 방법이다. 이것은 하나의 서비스 제공자가 다른 서비스 제공자와 비교하여 공표된 스케쥴에 맞추어 얼마나 잘 운항하는지 표준화된 수단을 제공한다.

금융거래시 사용하는 OTP는 One Time Password의 약자로 일회용 비밀번호를 의미하며, 항공사에서 말하는 OTP는 On-Time Permformance의 약자로 정시실적(정시율)을 뜻한다.
항공사는 안전성과 정시운항이 가장 중요하다. 통상적으로 출도착 스케쥴 시간 대비 15분을 기준으로 정시운항 유무를 판단한다. 국토부에서도 항공편 정시성 향상을 위해 항공사와의 TF를 구성하여 운영중이다. 정시성은 항공기 안전 점검등 항공사 내부 요인 외에도 나쁜 날씨, 공항 혼잡등의 외부 요인의 영향도 받는다. 개인적으로는 그 어떤 서비스보다 정시 운항이 손님을 위한 제일 첫번째 서비스라고 생각한다.
